hot stone massage

hot stone massage, originally uploaded by Knit Girl....
Today I was treated to the most loverly hot stone massage. I've never had one before, and I highly recommend everyone must have at least 10 in their lifetime (or like once a month at least!!!) Talk about warm velvety bliss...

For Christmas my beloved and daughter gave me a gift certificate for a hot stone massage. I finally was able to make an appointment. And I was not disappointed. The moment that made me truly smile was when she slipped hot stone pebbles between my toes. That was definitely the most delicious moment of my day! It literally made me smile.

There is something necessary about human contact...specifically touch. Studies have been written about it. It is essential to life. Today was a beautiful reminder of that fact.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~ Leo F. Buscaglia

So inviting...

So inviting..., originally uploaded by Knit Girl....
Do you ever have those days? You know the ones. The days you wake up early in the morning (usually to pee) and you pick up your watch praying, "Please be two in the morning..." because you are just not ready to wake up and face the day. It's always those days that the watch indicates my alarm will go off in "three...two...one...beep beeep beeeeep". Nuts!

I actually shot this yesterday afternoon. I was playing with it in post-processing and came up with this warm image that just seemed to scream at me, "You know you wanna!" So as I gaze at it today it reminds me of all those mornings I'm just not ready to stir out of bed even though my alarm is screaming at me.

Let me leave you with this quote I found today:

"May sleep envelop you as a bed sheet floating gently down, tickling your skin and removing every worry. Reminding you to consider only this moment." ~Jeb Dickerson

Decaf

Decaf, originally uploaded by Knit Girl....
I have come across the greatest blog site for photography and PS/PSE actions. It is called CoffeeShop:

CoffeeShop

There you will find oodles of goodies. I have learned a lot in the past 24 hours. In fact my brain is a bit on overload. But between loads of laundry and cleaning up the house I have been playing with some of the actions I've downloaded. As soon as my daughter gets home, I'm going to go on a walkabout with my camera -- try to find some new images to play with.

To the right is the original image I wanted to change.  I used two actions for this photo: first I used Portrait Perfect to give a bit of definition to the eyes (it is a self-portrait so the eyes were not totally in focus). Then I used the Colour Pop 2 action and set it to "Decaf" -- I like the urban edginess it creates. A bit of tweaking with layers and contrast and voila! C'est magnifique! Well...at least I think it looks pretty cool :D

110

Today I had a dentist appointment (shudder). Afterwards I drove around town looking for something to catch my eye. This old weathered door certainly did. I was hoping to find more interesting items, but I'm feeling a bit under the weather today.

Lately I've been feeling rather uninspired as I look around for interesting and unique subjects to photograph. I started this blog because I have been looking at some other photography blogs and I have been finding bits of inspiration here and there. Hopefully I am able to capture such amazing and moving images myself.

Today I begin to live...
